Having been a classroom teacher I would strongly desire and appreciate a course book for an ESL course. Creating the syllable and activities completely from scratch is a HUGE and overwhelming task. I prefer to use a textbook as a starting point to help me establish the syllabus and calendar, and then supplement with activities to keep the course interesting. I do understand that a predictable pattern with a textbook can get very boring for students and cause them to lose interest, which is why I would challenge myself to find games and activities and authentic resources to keep the class interesting and make the learning fun.
