This unit covered the different forms of assessments and their individual suitability according to the situation. It is true that testing is a convenient and accepted form of evaluation for students of all kinds, and, especially when participating in a course which grants a certificate or other credentials, its use is widespread. However, I appreciated the note that not all teachers believe in testing - it does seem to me as well that, unless the test is very well-written, it is usually more an examination of memory than of understanding. I concur that a better evaluation occurs one-on-one: between the teacher and the student in the classroom.
