I think I have learned in this unit 20, how to deal with the common problem situations that teacher can encounter in the classroom. During the first classes the teacher should establish rapport with the students, such classes can fall into two categories, new group and existing group. Teachers should try to use activities that will achieve to establish rapport between the students and between the teacher and the students, the teachers need to tailor the course to meet the needs of the class, as well in the firs classes teachers will find out the English level of each student. There are a number of activities that teachers can use for these purpose, such as questionnaire or survey, a board game ‘tell us about’, pass the ball game and needs analysis. Warmer activities are important ideas to get students in the mood for English class. One of the biggest problems that teachers face is a group of varying levels, this can be deal with the use of different materials. Splitting the group into two groups then teacher can give different material ,appropriate to each level. For large classes problem, teacher can employ a number of techniques to create successful classes, such as the use of work sheets, pair or group work, choral repetition, dynamics, etc. Use of native language is not bad but the teacher need the kids to communicate in English language, making sure the activities that the teacher use are at an appropriate level and the students have the necessary language to cope, also teacher have to make clear explanations to all the class member, they then shouldn't need to clarify to each other in their native language. Encourage the use of English when appropriate, only respond in English, constantly remind the group the use of English. For reluctant students, some useful ideas for example are the use of plenty pair work, use the controlled practice, role plays, tape recorder.
