In this unit I have learnt that speaking and writing are equally important to students learning English although the writing of English is possible more difficult than learning to speak it. This is due to English being a non-phonetic language, other languages may write from right to left, punctuation and some languages join words for example. When writing, accuracy is far more important than when focusing on fluency and speaking but when mistakes are made, gentle and sensitive prompting may achieve the learning objectives without demotivating the students.
