This very first unit has given me a basic but general and important knowledge of teachers and learners. I have a better idea about what role am I acting as in front of the students and thus feel clearer about what I should do as a teacher. I also have a better understanding of the motivation, experience and behavior of different leaners divided by age and language level. This has made me more aware of what they might need, how I should interact with them, the choice of topics, the way to manage the class and etc.. My plan to practice for this unit is to practice my different roles in the class focusing one at a time, as well as to identify the levels of my students'. I will try to motivate them by giving encouragement align to their intention of attending the class, build new knowledge upon their existing knowledge, set up activities that suit their attention spans, help them feel safe to make mistakes while increase their self-correction abilities... There will be a lot more to learn and I look forward to it very much.
