In this unit, conditionals and reported speech was explained. Conditionals are sentences that contain the word if or when. There are five different types of corditional speech sentence structures. These include zero conditional, first conditional, second conditional, third conditional, and mixed conditional. Each most start by using if however, each ending differs depending upon if present or past tenses is being used. Zero and first conditional strictly uses present tense while second, third, and mixed use past tenses. I have learned that zero conditional is used when discussing irrefutable facts and actions while first conditional is used for real life situations in the future. Second conditional is used for present and future hypothetical situations while third conditional is for a hypothetical past actions that results in hypothetical past consequences. Mix conditional is a combination of second and third conditional which is implemented for hypothetical past actions that result in hypothetical present actions. The unit, provided teaching materials for me to use dying my future class lessons. In addition discourse discussed reported and direct speech. Direct speech can be used in the present and past tenses, but also deals with questions. While reported speech deals with answering direct speech questions. In this unit, I have learned how to identify direct and indirect speech and how to formulate questions and answers regarding both.
