Unit 17 covered different resources that can be used in the classroom. The chapter went in depth on ways to use the board affectively, whether it a smart board or a regular board. A teacher benefits from writing out what they want to write on the board beforehand so they can see how it is best organized and fits in the space they will be using. Things that could be put on the board are vocabulary, language points, examples, or exercises. Using different colored markers as emphasis on the board helps students see what is most important and gives them a clear course of what is changing if an exercise is being done. Visuals can also be put on the board to illicit vocabulary and games can be played there. The teacher should always erase information that is not needed to continue the lesson in order to keep the board from becoming cluttered and confusing. If a board is a smart board, teachers should take time to learn the equipment, test what they want to do during their lesson, and always have a back up plan incase the technology of the smart board fails.
Other resources include: computers- which can be used for video clips, finding different activities, and audio exercises- worksheets, as they help teachers understand student comprehension, video recorders for projects and student self correction, dictionaries as they provide pronunciation and proper example sentences, resource books to help with ideas, and course books which provide activities and the teacher can use them to create structure in a lesson or introduce the base concept and expand on it if desired.
