This unit focuses on the productive skills of speaking and writing and their differences from each other. For instance, how writing skills aren't usually focused on in the classroom but in homework so as to not create too much "quiet time." I've learned that while it is important to have students speak and build on their speaking skills, it is also important to make sure they work on writing skills and are encouraged to improve their handwriting and spelling when writing. Likewise, with speaking, teachers must be sure to encourage and provide equal opportunities with accuracy activities as with fluency activities
