This unit focuses on the two out of the four basic skills present in any language, reading and listening which falls under the receptive skill category. It then goes ahead to group the reasons or motives for listening or reading materials into two groups namely:
1.reading and listening for a purpose.
2.reading and listening for entertainment.
It brought to light how important it is for a teacher to try incorporating all the four basic skills in his lesson to ensure a balanced approach.
