The nature of this unit could be seen as boring. The exciting part of all these different tenses is that it gives the chance to do a variety of activities and games within the class. For the past simple, you can get your students to stand up and do actions and ask what they are doing. For the past continuous maybe you could make it into a story and act it out. For the past perfect, you can talk about things that you have and haven't done. Lastly, the past perfect continuous you can talk about the different places you have traveled to and where you have gone. These grammar units are the basis of our lessons and sometimes its hard for us to teach because we just naturally understand it. Its our responsibility to make sure our students fully understand these concepts using a variety of activities.
