This unit was the follow up to teaching receptive skills, and was concerned with teaching productive skills: speaking and writing. The differences between them were discussed, with most students preferring speaking activities, and perhaps not enough attention being given to writing and accuracy based activities. I agree the two are both important, but also agree that functional use of the language comes a bit more from speaking and listening than reading and writing. Generally, only in advanced communication is accurate and/or creative writing expected or required.
