Unit 10 takes us inside an English language classroom through two videos of classes. In these videos, the lesson is the same, but the attitudes of both the teacher and the students in it were different. What I learned from this unit is that how the teacher teaches--which includes all the techniques and strategies he employs, including the structure of his class, the flow of the lesson, the volume of his voice, his rapport with the students, etc.-- all affect the level of student engagement, participation, and learning. This is why it is crucial that the teacher not only knows his material, but must also be able to communicate it for his students to understand and use correctly.
