This unit was rather short, but provided useful information. The part that clicked for me the most was when they mentioned that even though we are dealing with reading and listening skills it is not just the eyes and ears that are involved, but rather the brain as well. The example about the Bears and the Cowboys really put things in perspective. Even if I understand the meaning of each and every word within a sentence I could still come to the wrong conclusion. Instead it is important to use the brain in addition to receptive skills in order to full understand content.
