Overall, I learned from these videos that the teacher's attitude, voice, and preparedness are the largest factors in determining the success of the students and a lesson. In the first lesson, the teacher walked in late and just began teaching right away. Furthermore, he was using a lot of hand gestures, mumbling his words, and getting impatient when students were confused. He was very unorganized with his supplies, and it seemed as though he was unhappy to be there. He overcorrected students for minor mistakes, barely explained any of the activities, and was not fair toward the students in the activities either. All of this just doomed the students from the start, and it felt like I was watching a train wreck. If I were a student in that class, I wouldn't even be entirely sure of what I had learned that day. In contrast, the second lesson was very organized. The teacher introduced himself, took time to learn the names of each student, and treated everyone equally. He was smiling and interested in what the students had to say, and didn't correct them for any small mistake when they were making an effort. He was sure to carefully explain the instructions before each activity, and was very encouraging throughout the entire lesson. He had all of his supplies ready beforehand, so the lesson had a smooth flow to it. After that class, I would have been very sure of what I had just learned if I were his student.
