I learn that the receptive skills, which are the reading and listening skills are equally as important as the productive skills. There are five specialist skills for reading and listening successfully. It is also important to select the right topic because it will get the students very engaged creating more student talk time and making the students more interesting in the lesson. It is important for me to select carefully the text or dialogue for the lesson. It should neither be too easy nor too difficult for the students as they should be challenged while building their confidence. There should be a variety of topics including authentic and non-authentic texts.
