This unit was very beneficial for me. But the part I liked the most discussed how to make English easier for students in the classroom. This was a good refresher. Suggestions that we already use but at times forget the rationale behind it. Sometimes as teachers we have a hard time grasping if the activities we choose will take a long time for the students to accomplish and we struggle to find the perfect activities. I like how it suggests that the activities should be short and task-oriented. This will encourage students to have more confidence in completing the work and try to focus on the language improving their fluency. It is important to begin with structured activities and some essential words and expressions so students are not at loss of words. Pair work is essential for group work and support when learning a second language. Students who are stronger in their L2 can help and translate what is expected of them in the lesson to the other students. It is important that they practice the English language but if they revert to their native language in group work it is not shunned. This is accepted as long as they are still on task.
