The final unit is about the problems that teachers may encounter with students and methods and techniques which can be used to rectify problems. Establishing rapport in the first lesson with students could be helpful with communication and allow the teacher to gain an insight into the students personalities, likes and dislikes. From this the teacher could gain valuable information which will help with composing future lessons that are interesting and motivating for the students. Activities such as pass the ball and a needs analysis can help teachers gain the information about the language level of the students and their aims and aspirations for the English language. Short, fun warming exercises that can be adjusted to the language level of the students such as hangman, can have an impact on students motivation. Recognizing that in a class there will be strong and weaker students teachers must employ methods such as pair work or splitting the class into teams, in order to maintain motivation for the weaker students and prevent boredom for the stronger students. Large classes although offer a variety of interest, can benefit from choral work and worksheets. Reluctance to participate from a student may be due to a lack of confidence. Again pair work or techniques such as students taping themselves to be heard later by the teacher, may help. Teachers should encourage the use of the English language wherever possible and avoid allowing students to use their native language. Teachers should only respond to English as a technique to not allow students to revert to their native language when in difficulty.
