In my experience as a classroom teacher, I have found that lesson planning is one of the most important elements of teaching. I have colleagues who really don't like lesson planning, but for me personally, it is very difficult to have a well timed lesson without a coherent structure to follow. I also believe that lesson plans should be simple and flexible to ensure that teachers can be responsive to the needs of students as they arise within the class.
