This unit provides a broad overview of the teaching of pronunciation. It begins with an interesting anecdote about a survey of students in several European cities; a substantial majority found pronunciation to be among the most difficult aspects of learning English. The unit describes the differences between intonation and stress, as well as other important concepts such as linking, and describes general approaches to teaching these factors. Finally it provides the phonetic alphabet and how to use it.
