I learned a few interesting things after reading unit 11. First of all, I learned about all the different skills used when reading or listening such as being able to predict the what the article or dialogue is about just based on an introduction or title and skimming a text to get a general idea of what it's about. I also learned about useful ways to avoid problems with reading and listening. For example, pre-teaching problematic vocabulary that can potentially hinder the understanding of a dialogue or text is one useful method when approaching receptive skills. Another example is choosing a topic that will likely be interesting to the students. This helps motivate the students to want to read the material and gain a better understanding as a result. Overall, I thought this unit was very useful and interesting.
