This unit focused on teaching pronunciation and phonology. When teaching English this is a very important aspect as the English language differs from most, however these areas are often neglected. It is less important to focus on individual sounds when teaching English and more so on teaching intonation pattern and the stressing of different words. Given that the language is being taught to people who often have no previous knowledge of the language it is important to highlight pronunciation as it can create very different meanings of the same word.
