The productive skills of writing and reading need special attention to the fine balance between accuracy and fluency. While speaking often gets much attention in a classroom, problems can arise (such as fear of speaking or talking in a mutilated form of english), if a teacher spends too much time correcting or does not use an appropriate amount of time on the engage section of class, students might feel intimidated and/or be overwhelmed by fear of mistakes or general shyness. If a teacher does not correct mistakes at all and/or spends too much time "having fun", students could develop bad habits and not improve enough, which will eventually lead to overconfidence in deficient language skills or fear of communicating due to awareness of language skill weakness. Besides speaking, a frequently overlooked skill is communication through writing, writing takes practice but requires proper use of ESA to ensure students efficiently learn it.
