After reading unit 20, I learned about some good ways to deal with common problems teachers face in the classroom. I learned about the importance of establishing rapport during the first class. A few good ways to do this are some fun activities such as questionnaires, surveys, or the Pass the Ball game. I also learned that "warmers" are a good way to warm up the students to start talking in English and get ready for the lesson. A warmer could be a fun game such as Hangman or a memory game. Another thing I learned was that pairing stronger students with weaker ones can help when there are varying levels in the class. Some other important things I learned was how to get all students to participate when teaching large classes. Pair work and choral drilling are good examples to get all students involved. Overall, I learned some excellent strategies on dealing with potential problems I may face in my future career.
