This unit focused on troubleshooting issues that come up in teaching. The matter of teaching the first lessons for a group of students, whether it's a new group or existing group, was addressed by suggesting it not be a first lesson from a book. It would be better to address the issues of establishing rapport between students and the teacher. This would also be the time to get to know the students, including what level of ability they have in English as well as the specific needs of each student. It would also be helpful to get to know more about each student and their special interests. The unit also addressed other issues such as warmers, reluctant students, difficulties in listening to tapes, large classes, and students at different levels in the same class.
