This unit focused on classroom management. When managing a class, the teacher has to be mindful of what they are doing. Eye contact, gestures, and the teacher's voice will all need to be effectively used to gain good management of the class. A teacher needs to consider the group of students and the culture in order to be effective. The way that students are grouped in a classroom can help or hinder managing the class. The size and type of the class will dictate things in part, but a teacher should be open to using different arrangements in order to encourage more talk time between students. Teachers should work to give individual attention when needed but not focus too much on any one student. The more time students talk and use their language skills appropriately, the better the class will be.
