Planning a lesson is particularly important for new teachers, keeping in mind all phases and what we would like students to accomplish by the end of the lesson. More experienced teachers can be flexible. During the engage phase we want all students in the class to participate according to their experiences related to the lesson. Teachers must anticipate any problems and have solutions ready ahead of time. It is most important to plan how long each activity will take, being realistic with timing. The lesson plan enables teachers to stay on track as well as providing a historical record of what the class has done and what materials were used.
