In this unit I have found that knowing the difference between controlling and managing has been very enlightening and interesting, as I have always classed the two words to mean the same thing.
Now I understand to control basically means to dominate the class, which can be very damaging to the students as they will feel that they are not really part of the lesson or class. To manage means to lead, guide and organise in an effective manner, in which the students most probably will respond to the teacher in a respectful manner and will be more motivated to learn.
