This unit has been a tough for me although after many days of studying I finally was able to get my head around it. Basically this unit is describing how English grammar is used in present situations, known collectively as 'tenses'. We have four basic tenses to describe a situation relating to present activity, such as present simple, present continous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. Present simple focuses on permanent situations, facts and repeated actions. Present continuous emphasizes temporary activities, actions happening in the present, changing situations and fixed arrangements in the near future, etc. The present perfect is mainly related to past activies that also have present relations such as recently finished activities, past actions that happened in an unfinished period of time, an activity that began in the past which is still a present fact, etc. The present continous perfect is very much related to the present perfect, focusing once again on activities that took place in the past although more emphasis is put on situations such as an activities that are going to continue in the future or an activity was in progress for a period of time. Overall a very informative yet tougher unit. However it has opened my eyes more into the learning of English grammar and I find it will be very useful for me in the long run.
