Learning past tense after learning the present tense and then starting to learn the rules for the different types was very helpful in understanding this unit. Naturally, I understand how to change verbs from present to past but knowing how to explain that all continuous tenses have some form of 'to be +ing was really helpful. Understanding the patterns across the different tenses will greatly help me teach others how to recognize and understand those patterns as well. As well as with the present tense, there are some irregular verbs that the students will just have to memorize.
