I found it very instructive to have receptive skills contrasted to productive skills. While the Unit reading material was designed to thoroughly explore receptive skills, it was helpful to have the associated video offer both. Prior to this, I hadn’t separated these four components into their respective two groups.
Likewise, I hadn’t given dedicated thought to the way in which our reading changes according to its purpose. It makes sense that instructive text, such as directions, would require greater focus and attention than scanning for specific content in a newspaper article.
