Conditionals refer to all those 'if' sentences (or when) which refer to past, present and future possibilities. There are two clauses: the 'if' clause which is the condition and the main clause which is the consequence. There 5 types of conditionals: the zero, the first, the second, the third and the mixed. Diferrent teaching techniques of conditionals include: split sentence, complete the conditional, chain conditional, what would happen if..? etc. Direct/ actual speech becomes a reported/ indirect speech when we want to report something that happened in the present or past. Verb tenses, pronouns, time words change. Teaching ideas include intermediaries, reporting verbs, media interviews.
