In this unit, two videos of lesson demonstration were presented. The same lesson is being taught twice in a completely opposite way. The first video is a lesson demonstration in which the teacher deliberately made common errors/mistakes in teaching. The common mistakes/errors are starting the lesson immediately without proper introduction, going to study phase right away and skipping the engage phase, not giving a clear explanation of the lesson, not involving all students in the discussion, reprimanding students for incorrect answers, and showing inappropriate gestures while teaching. In contrast with the first video presentation, the second video showed a more effective way of teaching the lesson. In the second video, the teacher properly introduced himself to the class and asked each of their names. The teacher also warmed the class up in engage phase before proceeding to the study phase where he explained clearly what the lesson is and writing legibly on the board. Moreover, the teacher spoke slowly and clearly, calling the students in an unpredictable manner keeping them keen throughout the lesson and involving them all in the discussion. The positive and engaging attitude of the teacher made a huge difference in achieving a high level participation of the students in the class, resulting in more effective learning.
