This unit gave an overview of teaching receptive skills, and an understanding of the fact that it is not enough to simply be able to read the words in front of you, you need to be able to understand the words otherwise it is simply useless. This can be overcome by simple activities in the study phase where the teacher can highlight a few words that he thinks may be problematic and teach those to the students first.
I think at this point of the TEFL course it is becoming clear that you need to walk a path with the students because they will improve every week, learning a language proficiently takes time.
