Conditionals seem like they could be very confusing to an English learner because so many languages don't have as many tenses. I would have to suss out exactly what the student is trying to say before helping them with conditional sentences. I would also probably teach conditionals using a time line, as in a line depicting a whole day or a whole week and making hash marks and arcs to convey the conditional ideas visually. I always find that pictures and visuals help me with such abstract concepts.
