This unit covers teaching the receptive language skills of reading and listening. The importance of topic was not something I had really considered before. Picking out texts that are both interesting to adult learners and appropriate for their language level is not simple. To balance that is the suggestions for how to generate interest in students. Just because the topic would not be the student's first choice doesn't mean they are doomed to boredom if the teacher will just put forth a little effort.
