This unit on the productive skills focusing on speaking and writing is another great unit. I have experienced teaching in locations where others (including parents and school staff) did not understand the importance of both and often worked with training centers that did not even have writing materials available. There are some who have shared with me that they are content with their students knowing how to speak certain words even when there is no comprehension. Therefore, I agree with the passage saying that it is often a neglected skill in the TEFL world. However, writing exercises are not missing from my lessons!
