This unit explored the conditional verb tense constructions and their various rules. The first, second, third, and mixed conditionals were identified, as well as lessons and teaching points that will assist with effectively teaching these tenses. Additionally, the concepts of direct speech versus reported speech was introduced, and how these forms of speech impact the verb tense used. For example the direct speech form of present simple changes to past simple when the speech is reported.
