This unit covers classroom management techniques focused on helping the teacher maintain control of the classroom and facilitate an environment in which students remain focused and conscientious but do not feel uncomfortable. Much of the lesson centers on decisions that teachers can make in order to be their most effective at classroom management - how much time should the teacher spend talking? How should the teacher organize students into groups (if s/he should)? I will be teaching larger classes with somewhat reticent students, so having more group work will be effective so long as I give clear directions and monitor students such that they do not begin speaking their native language.
