This unit discusses teaching special groups, such a beginners, young learners, business clients, and multilingual/monolingual groups. This unit is highly relevant to my teaching experience, since I have been teaching most of the above-mentioned groups. It is true that I found teaching young learners most rewarding and a lot of fun. Teaching adults is very challenging, because they are usually very busy and cannot attend the class regularly and continually. Many adults are false beginners, but some expect to be able to handle conservation as soon as the course starts. It is easier to teach real beginners from scratch. I also have business clients, and it is challenging to keep them motivated, as many of them are just excited about studying English for a short moment, but lack the time, energy and persistence to study for a long period. This unit gives me very good ideas how to prepare for working with all these groups.
