After completing this unit I feel I have a much stronger understanding of not only past tense but also present tense. The rules and usages are becoming more clear to me now. I feel much more confident about them. I can confidently say that I know the differences between past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous. I also now understand when to use which and would feel confident in teaching students this.
