This unit gave a helpful bird's eye view of the use of a course book while teaching English. They have several advantages, especially if you are a new teacher, and IF the teacher is able to adapt the text, rather than follow it to the letter. As with all teaching, it's important for the teacher to pay attention to the students to see how they are doing in the class and adapt as necessary. Sometimes, course books can be dry and boring, but it is usually a good plan to follow from beginning to end.
