Considering how much trouble I was having during the present and past tense portions of these lessons, I've come to realize how dangerous it can be to try to teach these grammar segments without thorough understanding. When relying on simply being able to use them in conversation as a native speaker it can make it harder for students to understand the subtle natures and meanings for these points. Without dissecting them and learning their parts, the teachers will not have explanations for why the errors are wrong or "sound" wrong.
