This unit is focused on Classroom Management. It starts off by introducing the reasons for classroom management, and then points out and elaborates on the use of the teachers eyes, voice and gestures.
Moreover, it moves on to the grouping of students during activities and the three most common techniques while explaining the pros and cons of each. It then covers the classroom arrangement, the pros and cons of each mentioned arrangement (rows, horseshoe/semi-circular, separate tables) whilst focusing on the teacher positioning for each arrangement.
In addition, the unit covers the different techniques a teacher could use for avoiding giving the students her/his back and how to skillfully use Teacher Talk Time. The unit also provides a number of procedures of or ways to effectively give instructions.
Furthermore, the unit elucidates what building rapport is and how to appropriately build rapport with students. Finally, this unit elaborates on behavioural problems, where they might be stemming from, and how to manage them in the best and most convenient manner.
