A sentence in English consists of at least a subject and verb, but there usually are more words and those words can be further classified as parts of speech according to their purpose and the meaning they convey. The eight parts of speech include nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions/conjunctions. One particular part I had a hard time understanding was determining the correct order of adjectives when there are more than one adjective. Although there are many rules for different types of adjectives, after reading the material, now I know one basic rule: we list the adjectives in the order of size->age->colour->material->noun.
