The purpose of this unit was to provide future English teachers with strategic and productive ways of teaching vocabulary, grammatical structures and the functionality of the language in daily activities. It outlines a number of teachings approaches that seem to have been proven adequate when introducing parts of a new language. For example, the teacher must start by introducing the most basic form of the language, vocabulary. These words should not be of random choosing, all words must relate to an specific scenario or topic. Once the vocabulary has been introduced, the next step would be to start forming sentences. Here is where the student is introduced to basic grammatical structure. Then, the teacher can focus his lesson on the functionality of what was taught on this particular day, always keeping in mind that wether you are teaching vocabulary, grammar or functionality, the teaching methods for each, although extremely similar, differ in organization. For example, the method one might use to teach a new vocabulary word might not be ideal for teaching grammatical structures. What does seem to stay constant is the ESA format for planning a lesson but even this format can vary depending on the goal of the lesson on any given day.
