This unit introduces classroom management. It includes eye-contact, gesture and voice; grouping students; classroom arrangement; board-work; giving individual attention; using student names; teacher talking time (TTT) and student talking time (STT); giving instructions; establishing rapport; maintaining discipline. I have seen many people use student names at the beginning of something aimed at them. I have always thought it was a bad idea. I am gratified to see it detailed here--putting the name at the end helps to keep them on their toes. I like the idea of keeping a low profile when the students are doing their work. Also useful is the idea of using simple language. I often hear people trying to speak "natural speed" or "natural (street) English" and not understanding each other. Thus, wasting time.
