Though I already know the country I plan to teach and many of the facts about that country, it is helpful to read these and realize what is important to know when entering into a new context. It is also helpful to know what some of my own "blind spots" are as I go into the area where I will be teaching and knowing how I can be a better student of the culture I am working amongst. It is also helpful as I hope to be able to help other teachers who are coming into our context and this unit has provided helpful advice that I can pass onto them as they begin their journey in teaching English.
