Unit 2 gave a good general idea of all eight parts of speech--nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, articles, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions/conjunctions--and helped break down the monstrosity of the English language. The most difficult and challenging part will be recognizing that one word can fit into multiple categories. For instance--is 'on' referring to time/date (on time), placement (on the chair), or movement (moving on)? Is 'smoking' a verb or gerund? Each individual section seems to make sense within its own little rule-book, but the moment it meets the rest of the sentence it becomes jumbled. I worry mostly for the students, but I'm going to keep practicing in order to better communicate the differences and similarities within the parts of speech.
