Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!
This unit covered modals, passive voice, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs. Modals are used to add meaning to main verbs as well as express different levels of formality; passive voice which expresses that the object is not as important or doesn't appear; relative clauses which are a group of words with a subject and verb which can be a complete sentence or not; and phrasal verbs which are multiple-word verbs acting as one. Once again, I was made aware of how much I take for granted in my ability to use and understand English. Studying the rules and their exceptions in this and the other grammar units has been an important reminder of the complexity of English and the challenges English Language Learners have. As a native English speaker, I don't have to give consideration to grammar rules in order to speak naturally. I imagine a non-native speaker must find attaining a degree of fluency a daunting task; or how even trying to use basic communication when trying to accomplish daily tasks in their new country would feel intimidating. I feel I now have a better understanding of the critical importance of creating lessons that are engaging and make students feel comfortable in their attempts to learn and speak English.
