Such important grammar topics in this unit, and also very challenging to teach and for students to grasp successfully. Grammar is such a vital part in the language learning and teaching process and is sometimes overlooked or not drilled enough in the classroom. Modal auxiliary verbs can be very confusing for students, such as when to use 'may' or 'need to' or even 'must' to express more or obsolute certainty. The passive voice is also difficult for students to grasp correctly, as sometimes they can't even master it in their own mother tongue. Relative clauses are not that difficult but still need to be taught meticulously. The biggest challenge is the use of phrasal verbs, as this is really something totally out of their 'knowledge' because most other languages do not employ phrasal verbs, whether it be separable or inseparable, transitive or intransitive and so on.
